El-P – Cancer for Cure

As the title might suggest, the album is an exercise in pessimism. Never one to get too sunshine-y, El-P uses C4C as a space to stretch his aggressive brand of hip hop over his aggressive brand of instrumentals. As a whole, the record is highly musical - which is a rarity in modern hip hop. El-P's influence is felt on both sides of every track, but that balance is sometimes thrown out of whack - making the album drag at times when it should soar.
